Foods you can grow

The variety of fruits, vegetables, nuts, legumes, grains, dairy products, and meats produced in California is vast and wide ranging. Those of us who call California home have access to an extensive and evergrowing list of local produce, yet so many California consumers purchase garlic from China instead of Gilroy or tomatoes from Chile instead of Ventura. The quality and nutritional value of the food suffers, the environment is compromised, and local farmers struggle to stay on their land. Knowing what is in season in your local bioregion is key to informed buying.

These foods databases shows the seasonality of food crops grown throughout California. Use it to learn about the variety of foods grown in your region, when they are available, and how to enjoy them to their fullest.
