Activities
Quarterly Education meetings
FSFS meets four times a year (generally January, March, June and September) to learn about current
issues in sustainable food systems and discuss opportunities for funding. These meetings provide
networking opportunities and feature speakers active in food systems issues in California and
around the country.
Food systems tours
FSFS hosts educational tours that show how both the conventional food system currently operates
and how the alternative food system is emerging. FSFS plans farm tours, regional economy tours,
and field to table tours. Tours are designed for members, funders, or the general public depending
on the tour.
FSFS Newsletter Archive
FSFS distributes a newsletter summarizing all the latest news from FSFS and announcing upcoming
events. If you would like to receive future issues of the newsletter, please email Jamaica

Speaker events
FSFS invites top experts and activists from varying sectors to educate philanthropists on specific
threats to and opportunities for the transition to sustainable food systems. FSFS hosts conference
calls, screenings, and short presentations for both members and other interested funders.
Events database
FSFS maintains a database of both FSFS events and other upcoming events
and conferences related to food systems issues. Some events are not open to the general public.
For all FSFS events, please contact the FSFS coordinator
for more information. For non-FSFS events please contact the appropriate organization listed in
the events database.
News updates
FSFS distributes semi-monthly news updates on a variety of food systems issues to members and
interested funders.
Funding opportunities
FSFS maintains a list of timely and prioritized food system funding opportunities for any interested
funders that are looking for more information on organizations and projects currently in need
of additional funds. FSFS also connects funders to other foundations or donors that have similar
interests in a particular sector or issue. FSFS also recommends that funders consider joining
the Roots of Change Fund, a foundation collaborative that will regrant monies to key strategic
activities over the next three years. Please click here for more information on the ROC
Fund.
